About Us

Power Infrastructure Services is a specialist HV and EHV installation contractor, established to give the power industry the on-site delivery support it needs.

Power-IS was set up to meet the demands of the EHV industry. Tier 1, main contractors and OEMs delivering substation and power infrastructure for transmission and distribution network operators need installation partners who take ownership of the package, stay with it to handover and work to standards the network operator will accept. That is what Power-IS exists to do.

We deliver substation building services, protection and control and primary HV plant as complete installation packages with our own site teams, on contestable and non-contestable works, and directly on NGET infrastructure from 132kV to 400kV.

The engineering pedigree behind Power-IS

Power-IS is the sister company of Power Management Services (Power-MS), an independent project management and engineering consultancy that has supported the UK power industry since 2010 on networks from 11kV to 400kV. Power-MS represents DNOs, National Grid Electricity Transmission and connection customers from within DNO and transmission programme environments, and its integrated management system is certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 by a UKAS-accredited body. Power-IS draws on that engineering capability wherever a project benefits from it, while the two roles stay clearly separated.

How we deliver

Our model is built around onboarding and utilising our own labour. Operatives and supervisors are onboarded by Power-IS, inducted to our SHESQ standards and committed to them for the duration of the works. Every package is led by a Power-IS project manager, who is your single point of contact, and a Power-IS supervisor accountable for safety, quality and progress on site. Quality is recorded as the works progress, not reconstructed at the end, so handover documentation is ready when the installation is.
